In the Ancient Greek world, they have this Greek mythical stories ..It is believed that there are 12 Olympian Gods leaving at the very top of the Olympus Mountain…It formed itself after the gods defeated the titans in the Titan War, and soon the palace was inhabited by the gods. It is the setting of many Greek mythical stories. Olympus was not shaken by winds nor ever wet with rain, nor did snow fall upon it, but the air is outspread clear and cloudless, and over it hovered a radiant whiteness….The 12 Olympian Gods are Zeus, supreme lord of gods, god of the sky, symbolized by the thunderbolt..Hera, was the queen of the Gods.Hera was the protector of women and marriage. Poseidon, the god of seas and earthquakes. Poseidon was the protector of these cities. He usually mated with nymphs of the water and had many children. His symbols were the trident, the dolphin, the fish and the horse. He was seen as an old man riding his horse-carriage out of the waves. Hades, another brother of Zeus, was the ruler of the Underworld, the world of the dead. Hestia, the calm goddess of home and homelife, symbolized by the hearth which holds the continually-burning flame.Aphrodite, was the goddess of beauty. She was forever beautiful and young. Shallow in nature, Aphrodite has a lot of affairs with mortals. Her son was Eros, god of Love (though he is not an Olympian.) She was no directly connected to Zeus. She was probably a generation older than the other Olympian Gods. Demeter, was the goddess of grain and fertility. She maintained the circle of life on the earth (the circle of young and old, life and death), alternating the seasons and reviving nature in spring. She is depicted in statues holding a tuft of grain.She’s the mother of Persephone (again, her offspring is not considered to be an Olympian.) Apollo, the beautiful god of the sun, light, medicine, and music.He’s not a brother but a son of Zeus. Apollo and Artemis were twins that Zeus obtained from Leto, a mortal woman.Artemis, Independent goddess of the hunt, the forest, wildlife, childbirth, and the moon. Sister to Apollo. Ares, the god of warfare and violence, was son of Zeus and Hera. He was not a likable god in ancient Greece, which is why there are no many temples of Ares. However, people were afraid of his anger and included him in their offerings. Athena, daughter of Zeus and goddess of wisdom, strategic war, and crafts. Hermes, The speedy messenger of the gods, god of business. The Romans called him Mercury.the son of Zeus and the daughter of a Titan, was the most foxy of all the Olympian Gods.He was also the guide to the Underworld and the protector of thieves, shepherds, orators, road travelers and merchants.
